Here is a quote from the Decware site: The DM945 was made possible by unique 8-inch driver who does nearly impossible: Have real bass in cabinet with only 1/4 cubic foot of air space, and maintain an efficiency 94dB at 1 watt. Then I moved and never got around to listening them. The natural silk speaker cone damped by a rubber surround makes possible for beautifully smooth and laid back mid range. The speakers are still in production.
Detailed and dynamic, they create a sound stage that is impressive. With the large 8-inch driver, you get and bass performance, scale punch of larger speakers with imaging a small bookshelf. The response of this driver is smooth enough that no crossover needed. The was only 6 watts and I needed high efficiency speakers.
I did finally get to test them out, and must say, they are indeed incredible speakers. This is complimented by a seamless pairing to planar dynamic ribbon tweeter. In the boxes they stayed for a year. Finding one or the other is not terribly hard to do, but finding both extremely rare.
The result is a small high efficiency basically crossover-less bookshelf speaker that can be optionally stand mounted. The build quality is out of sight, and as you can tell from the pictures, these are near mint. The 5 way biding posts are some of the best constructed I have ever seen. Its a win-win.
The tweeter is protected by a boutique film capacitor.
